 What does a "guidance counselor" do?   

A guidance counselor or school counselor provides services in the school based on the needs and interests of the students, these services would include, but not limited to:

* Mental, emotional, social, developmental, and behavioral services to students and families

* Academic support services

* Career Awareness

* School crisis intervention and response services

* Coordination and referral to mental health resources for students and families

* Scheduling and record keeping
